This beautiful traditional oval Appalachian mountain dulcimer is made of book-matched walnut with a contrasting strip of oak down the center. It features laser-cut celtic knot sound holes, side pins to store one melody string when flat picking, enclosed tuner gears and a 26 1/2 inch long fretboard with additional frets at the 6 1/2 and 13 1/2 positions. This dulcimer measures 34 1/2 inches overall and has a 1 5/8 inch deep body. This is an easy playing dulcimer with a distinct traditional mountain sound and the inherent quality of Dahlonega Dulcumers craftsman, Tim Wilson. A professional can really make this dulcimer sing, but its also easy to learn on due to its long fret board. It comes in popular tunings including DAD. The finish is multiple coats of hand rubbed shellac topped with a fine-grade carnuba wax giving it a beautiful luster that is reminiscent of priceless antiques. Tim uses only solid wood in his dulcimers. The measurements may vary slightly on each custom crafted dulcimer.
